Dhamnagar: Veteran freedom fighter Madhabananda Baisakh died of cardiac arrest at his residence in Nadigaon under Dhamnagar block in Bhadrak district Sunday. He was 91.
Inspired by late freedom fighter Baishnab Charan Nayak, Madhabananda had joined the Quit India Movement in 1942. He played an instrumental role in setting up several educational institutions and a hospital in his area.
It may be noted here that his elder brother and freedom fighter Purna Chandra Baisakh passed away 16 days ago. Since death of his elder brother, Madhabananda was keeping quiet.
He was coming out of the toilet when he fell flat and died.
Local leaders paid homage to the departed soul. Madhabananda’s mortal remains were consigned to flames at Dasanana cremation ground in Jajpur.
