Bhadrak: Seeking reinstatement in the job, a COVID-19 warrior has set out on foot from Bhadrak to Naveen Niwas in Bhubaneswar.
Ashwini Padhy offered puja at Hanuman Temple at Charampa Friday morning. Thereafter, he put on PPE kits, garlanded the bust of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das at Dahani Gadia square and then began his journey.
Padhy said he is determined to cover the distance of 130 kilometres or so on foot to draw the attention of the government to the plight of those COVID-19 who have been sacked from their jobs.
It is worth mentioning that Ashwini was in news few months ago when he was spotted moving from shop to shop asking for alms.
Notably, paramedical workers putting their lives at risk served the state in the initial time of the pandemic when the situation was grim. They were terminated from their job contracts as the situation started improving, rendering them without any source of income. They are finding it very difficult to run their families. These COVID-19 warriors have been staging a sit-in at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar for 55 days now.
“The demonstration will continue till the government considers our grievances,” Ashwini said.
