Bhubaneswar: Unknown miscreants stole belongings worth around Rs 3 lakh from a mess at Palasuni under Mancheswar Police station limits here late Sunday night. A complaint has been lodged in this regard with the police Monday afternoon.
According to sources, the complainant, Suryakanta Swain, of village Kandala under Kantapada police station limits in Cuttack, has been staying along with with his friends at plot no.3634/6850 at Prachi Vihar housing complex in Palasuni area in rent. The inmates possessed costly cameras and gadgets as all of them including Suryaknata engaged in photography and videography as freelancers and also work in movie shooting.
Swain had, Sunday, reportedly gone to his village while four others present in the flat. Upon his return Monday around 11am, he did not find his camera valued at Rs 1.50 lakh. Subsequently, during checking he also found another high cost camera– belonging tohis friend– and his laptop worth around Rs 1.80 lakh, missing from his room.
On the other hand, Swain alleged that one employee of a real estate firm on the second floor of the same building was seen coming out of his room by one of his roommates. Interestingly, the office of the firm often remains closed so his sudden appearance at their floor is suspicious, adds Swain. He accused that despite lapse of more than four hours police is yet to start investigation.
