GAIL gives Rs 5cr for relief works in Fani-hit areas

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the devastation caused by Cyclone Fani in Odisha, GAIL (India) Limited Monday contributed Rs 5 crore to Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) as support towards relief and rehabilitation efforts in the state.

A cheque of Rs 5 crore was handed over to OSDMA Chief and Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha, Bishnupada Sethi, by K V G Srinivas, General Manager (Construction).

Also, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) through its CSR arm JSPL Foundation one lakh cooked meals to the victims of Cyclone Fani in Puri. The Company started the service May 10 and continued for 10 days. Every day, 10,000 meals were served.

JSPL Foundation’s Co-Chairperson Shallu Jindal said, “What People of Puri have lost because of Cyclone Fani is irreparable. We just made an attempt to extend a helping hand to the Dist Admin and People of Puri during this difficult time.”

Life Insurance Corporation of India, Puri zone also stepped out to extend helping hand. The branch officials provided cooked food to the Fani-hit people of Puri areas like Pentakota, Narasinghapatna, Bhikaripada, Kantasila and Jagannath Patna. Over 3,000 people benefited from the service. Puri LIC zone director Dharanidhar Mallick led the team.
