Gajapati: The bodies of 15 people who were killed in a landslide at Barghar village under Rayagad block in Gajapati district were recovered, said Gajapati Superintendent of Police Amulya Das Sunday.
While 13 bodies had been recovered Saturday night, two more were found Sunday morning.
The last rites of the deceased will be performed at the village after post-mortem Sunday, Das said.
According to reports, 16 persons from five families of the village near Garabandha had taken shelter inside a cave in the hill due to the severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’.
However, following a landslide, the persons who had taken shelter in the cave were crushed under the debris.
The ODRAF and NDRF personnel carried out the rescue operation.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his deep condolences over the tragic incident.
