Gandia-Jajpur road connectivity snaps in Dhenkanal district

Dhenkanal:  A road from Tolakalundi under Gandia block stretching up to Turanga village under Dharmasala block connecting Gandia with Jajpur became completely inaccessible Friday due to heavy rains that have been drenching the district for the last two days. Traffic movement on this particular stretch has come to a complete halt.

According to reports, the road was handed over to Dhenkanal Works Department a year back for carrying out repairing work. However, the road was not repaired, despite repeated demands of local villagers.

Similarly, in another incident, rainwater washed away the concrete-barricades of Baidyakateni bridge under Dhenkanal Works Department at Laulai village of Nihalaprasad panchayat in the district.

Incessant rains have created a flood-like situation here, leaving it entirely waterlogged. Town planning area, Gayatri Nagar, Karigara Sahi, Kanchan Bazaar and Kumbhar Sahi have been badly affected, official sources informed.
