Gang snatches bag with Rs 86, 000 from liquor trader at gunpoint

Bhadrak: A gang snatched away Rs 86,000 at gunpoint from a liquor trader at Chhatabar Chhak near Bhandaripokhari in this district Wednesday night.

According to police, the businessman identified as Banabihari Prusty along with his salesman was returning home from his liquor shop with the day’s earnings when three motorcycle-borne assailants intercepted them at gun point and snatched away the bag containing the money.

They also took away his gold chain and three mobile phones before fleeing the spot.

The victim later lodged a complaint at the Bhandaripokhari police station. A police team reached the spot and questioned some locals for clues.

In a similar incident, June 25, a gang of two looted Rs 1.75lakh from a businessman near Ghasipura area in Keonjhar district. The victim was returning from Anandpur State Bank of India (SBI) after withdrawing cash for his daughter’s marriage.
