Bhubaneswar: Government Railway Police (GRP) Sunday seized cannabis worth Rs 5 lakh while they were being smuggled near Bhubaneswar railway station and arrested two youths in this connection.
The identities of the arrested two men are yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, acting on a tip-off, a special team of GRP conducted a raid while the accused were waiting for a train at the station Sunday morning. During the search, GRP police found the contraband stashed in sacks.
The contraband was seized immediately and two youths were also arrested for their alleged involvement in the case.
GRP police said that the accused were trying to smuggle the contraband outside of the state.
After registering a case in this regard the police are probing the accused. They will be produced in the court soon, a source said.
