Berhampur: People in Ganjam district should be more careful as August is likely to be more challenging, district collector Vijay Amruta Kulange Thursday said.
“The district is recently witnessing a gradual decline in daily spike of COVID-19 cases. But it can never be taken lightly. Rather, we should be more careful and strictly adhere to COVID-19 guidelines since August month is a crucial one,” Kulange said.
“Besides two-day weekly shutdowns, there will be shutdown from 4pm to 5am every day in the district in August. Legal action will be taken against those found violating COVID-19 guidelines,” he added.
He urged people to voluntarily report about their health conditions if they suffer from flu or experience any symptoms of COVID-19.
Notably, the district Thursday crossed 12,000 mark with 268 new cases. Ganjam’s COVID-19 tally now stands at 12,080. Of them, 8,621 patients have so far won the battle against the virus and have been discharged from hospitals while 3,331 patients are still recovering. With the fresh addition of three COVID-19 deaths Thursday, the district’s toll has gone up to 120.
