Chhatrapur: In a video message released Sunday, Ganjam District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange requested people not to take paracetamol tablets to suppress COVID-19 symptoms. He said that paracetamol tablets may reduce body temperature but will not destroy the COVID-19 virus. By consuming paracetamol without consulting doctors, people are endangering their own lives, he stated.
Kulnage said that if people show symptoms of cough and cold with fever, they should immediately consult doctors and take medicines accordingly. “If people feel they have coronavirus-like symptoms, they should not hesitate to report to their ASHA workers, Anganwadi activists and sarpanchs,” he informed.
Kulnage also pointed out that there are COVID-19 care homes in every panchayat of Ganjam district and all those hit by the virus will be treated accordingly.
Notably, Ganjam reported 230 fresh positive COVID-19 cases and three deaths Sunday. With this, the district’s COVID-19 tally went up to 3,864 while the death toll has increased to 39.
Currently, 1,745 patients are still undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 hospitals while 2,079 have recovered from the disease.
It should be stated here that Saturday a policemen fell prey to the deadly virus in Ganjam district. Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar Rai tweeted Sunday, “We are sorry to inform the demise of a COVID-19 warrior belonging to Ganjam police. He was undergoing treated when he succumbed to the virus. May God give strength to the bereaved family to overcome the tragedy. The entire Ganjam police force will stand with the deceased’s family.”
