Chhatrapur: Ganjam district in Odisha has achieved a milestone by successful implementation of Centre-sponsored rural job scheme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), a report said.
The district is the first among all districts in the country in creating 100 days of work to the beneficiaries under the scheme.
According to reports, over 70,165 beneficiaries in the district have been provided with 100 days work under the Central scheme by December 11 this year. The matter came to the fore after Ganjam Collector Vijaya Amruta Kulange tweeted congratulating the DRDA team and 22 BDOs for the achievement. The Collector said that the district has been able to create maximum man-days under the scheme and in providing work to the rural population
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had directed the district Collector to provide work to people during the Covid-19 pandemic. The district Collector was regularly reviewing the progress of the scheme and was advising concerned officials on its successful implementation.
Sindhe Dattatreya Bhausahed, PD, DRDA, said it was possible to achieve the feat due to regular monitoring by the Collector and thanked the BDOs and their teams for the achievement. Notably, Ganjam district had created two crore man-days in MGNREGS in October this year.
