Bhbaneswar: Ambassador of Germany to India, Walter J Lindner visited the OUAT Farm Gate Basti Community in Bhubaneswar recently.
During his visit, he interacted with children, women and youth of the community and inaugurated a Digital Learning Centre set up for children and youth.
The community is being run by Humara Bachpan Trust (HBT) which is a not-for-profit organisation since 2014. The organisation was founded by Dharitri Patnaik and advocates for safe and healthy living conditions along with enhancement of the socio-economic status of the communities living in poverty.
The women of the community greeted the German Ambassador in a traditional manner with ululations and showering of flowers, after which he visited the children’s playing and learning centre ‘Ama Adda’ at OUAT.
The Ambassador then visited and launched the ‘Community Digital Learning Centre.’ At the centre, he interacted with the Humara Bachpan team and the youth of the community, who shared that the Centre would provide children the access to online platform which would be instrumental in continuing their education during the pandemic, and also promoting digital literacy among the youths and adolescents.
