Bhubaneswar, August 8: A young woman student of SCB Medical College and Hospital who has found herself in the midst of an extraordinary scandal involving self-styled godman Baba Sarathi alias Santosh Raula, admitted to police that she had indeed accompanied the godman to Hyderabad.
She has however denied allegations of misconduct on the part of Sarathi.
The girl lodged a complaint with Mangalabag police August 7 stating four persons had blackmailed her into accompanying Sarathi to a plush hotel in Hyderabad.
“I was forced by four inmates of Sarathi’s Barimula ashram to accompany him to Hyderabad. They have been blackmailing me for the past few months through a video clip that they recorded of me taking a bath during my stay at the ashram,” the complainant said.
The girl reportedly has named the four accused who were allegedly threatening her as Nandi, Khaga, Kishor and Kailash.
Twin city police commissioner Rajendra Prasad Sharma said the girl in her complaint has alleged that the four persons were threatening her not to divulge anything against them, and that she would face consequences if she complained to the police.
The woman has reportedly defended herself and the godman stating she “offered my services to the godman as a mark of respect and nothing else” during their stay at the hotel, sources quoted the woman as saying in her complaint to police.
Sources said the girl may lodge a second complaint with Mangalabag police soon in connection with the case.
