G Udayagiri: Mystery shrouds the death of a minor girl who died by suicide by hanging herself at her elder sister’s in-laws’ house in Kalinga panchayat under this police limits in Gajapati district, late Monday night. The deceased took the extreme step when everybody was asleep. The matter came to the fore in the morning when people woke up. However, the actual reason behind the girl taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained
The incident took place when the deceased, a student of Plus-II course was visiting her elder sister. Finding the girl hanging from the ceiling, others in the house immediately informed the police who arrived at the spot soon.
Police brought down the body of the girl hanging from the ceiling and sent it for post-mortem. Police also questioned the elder sister of the deceased as well as other members of her in-laws’ family. Later Tuesday, the body of the deceased was handed over to her family members after conducting the post-mortem.
Police said further investigation is on and they are examining the belongings of the deceased while her mobile has been sent for forensic tests.
