Bolangir: In a shocking incident, a Plus II second year student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her hostel room at Sakma locality under Loisinga police limits in Bolangir district Tuesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Asha Meher. The girl studying in second year was found dead in her room of the ladies hostel of a private college where she resided in.

The matter came to the fore after two other girl students spotted her body hanging from the ceiling of her room when they visited her Tuesday evening. They later informed the hostel in-charge, who then informed the cops.

“Two girl students had come to the hostel during snacks break. They first saw the girl hanging and then reported warden. The college authorities, in turn, informed local police and family members of the girl student,” a spokesperson of the college said.

Loisinga police rushed to the hostel and launched a probe into the incident, which is underway. Police have registered a case in this connection and sent the body for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, family of the deceased student suspected foul play and alleged the incident to be a case of murder.

“This is apparently a murder. She has cuts on her fingers. Why somebody will cut nerves and then seal the wounds with black adhesive tape and then again hang self?” brother of the girl questioned.

Loisinga police has found two handwritten notes from the girl’s room. Actual reason behind the student’s death can only be ascertained after the post-mortem report comes in, a senior official said.

“The girl student’s body was recovered in the presence of a magistrate and her family members. We have found two handwritten notes that were kept in a shelf of her room. The notes will be sent for scrutiny,” Bolangir sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Toofan Bag stated.
