Sambalpur: Students of Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) who had protested against a massive fee hike, have now cooled down after the authorities revoked their decision, at a meeting held with students Wednesday.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Atanu Kumar Pati, Deputy Registrar Uma Charan Pati and Examination Department head Hemant Kumar Nayak held talks with the students.
The students, Subham Sahu, Soumya Panigrahi, Subhransu Salema, Sourav Sinha, Srichandan Sahoo, Chintu Bhoi, Chhanda Bhoi, Jitu Chand, Rajan Biswal, Sugam Mishra, Swetansu Barai, Swaraj Mishra, Rajgopal Choudhury attended the meeting.
The GMU authorities had hiked the fees when readmission was round the corner. The fees were hiked from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000 a subject. It had sparked strong protests among students and they had protested July 30.
