Angul: A goods train engine derailed Wednesday morning near Boinda in Odisha’s Angul district, a source said.
According to the source, the train – which was headed towards Sambalpur from Talcher – derailed at around 8am as a boulder from a hill fell on the engine.
The source informed that the boulder fell due to heavy rainfall in the district.
No one was hurt in this mishap. However, train services on that route got disrupted following the incident, the source added.
On being informed, Sambalpur DRM (Divisional Railway Manager) and several railway staff reached the spot. The officials were taking stock of the situation at the time of filing this report.
One of the railway officials said that the restoration work may take some time as rain continues to batter that area.
