Gop police personnel detained by residents of Puri district village for over 6 hours, Nimapara counterparts rescue them

Puri: Personnel of the Nimapara police station in Puri District had to swing into action Friday after their counterparts including 10 constables and two assistant sub-inspectors (ASI) belonging to Gop police station were detained by residents of Redhua village under Mahalapada panchayat, Thursday night. Police from the Gop police station had gone to Redhua village to arrest a person accused of being involved in burglary.

After getting information that the Gop personal had been detained the Nimapara sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Pradip Kumar Dalei reached the spot Friday with a platoon of policemen. They rescued their counterparts on arrival.

The villagers had detained the police man for six hours in the village, sources said. Residents of Redhua village including a large number of women squatted on the roads Thursday night obstructing the movement of the two vehicles the personnel of the Gop police station were travelling in.
