Gopalpur: Gopalpur port authorities hoisted danger signal-3 following low-pressure triggered rains over last two days in Ganjam district.
According to reports, 121 mm rain was recorded by 8.30 am in Ganjam district. The sea surface remained extremely rough as authorities issued a red alert in Ganjam district.
Incessant rainfall played havoc with the lives of people as water logging was witnessed in many areas. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure in Bay of Bengal turned into a depression at 4.30 am Wednesday and crossed Digha coast in West Bengal in the evening, Uma Shankar Das, the Doppler in-charge of the Meteorological Department here said. Rains are likely to decline by Thursday, he added.
