Bhubaneswar: Jatni MLA and senior Congress leader Sura Routray Sunday launched a fierce attack on the government, alleging the government has completely failed in COVID-19 management.
On community spread of the virus, Routray termed the situation in Bhubaneswar as grim and should not be taken lightly.
“For COVID-19 test, the government is supplying COVID-19 test kits only to two to three hospitals. These hospital authorities are allegedly not conducting the number of daily tests as stipulated by the government. The government has set a target to conduct 15,000 tests a day. But hardly 1,500 tests are done every day. As a result per day quota of kits remains unutilized defeating the purpose of rapid detection of samples,” he said.
On an average 50 new cases are being reported from the capital city and at the same time 100 patients are also being reported to have recovered from the disease. If this is the case, why is there a shutdown, he questioned.
Notably, Bhubaneswar reported 52 fresh positive cases Sunday with the tally reaching to 1,182 cases.
