Dhenkanal/Balasore: Two government officials — a district culture officer and an executive engineer have been caught on Vigilance radar on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income, Vigilance sources said Friday morning.
The accused have been identified as Sukru Swain, the district cultural officer of Dhenkanal and Basant Panda, an executive engineer of drainage division in Balasore.
In the first case, acting on a tip off, a team of Vigilance sleuths raided at three places related to Sukru Swain, including Swain’s Dhenkanal office, government quarters in Bhubaneswar, and ancestral house in Berhampur.
In the second case, the sleuths conducted simultaneous raids at various places including the office and residence of Basant Panda, an executive engineer working with the drainage division in Balasore. Raids are underway at Panda’s residence in Jail Road area in Balasore, his in-laws and ancestral house as well.
Notably, Vigilance sleuths of Cuttack October 17 said they have conducted raids at eight places including the office and residence of Nayagarh minor irrigation executive engineer Binay Kumar Subudhi on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
