Govindpur police arrest man who killed uncle in Bihar

Bamra: Govindpur police in Sambalpur district Sunday arrested a man who had been absconding after killing his paternal uncle in Bihar.

The accused Dhananjay Chauhan went to Govindpur police station Friday and said he had information about the accused in a murder case in Bihar.

He requested the police officers in Govindpur to help him having a conversation with Bihar police. The police allowed him to talk with their counterparts in Bihar.

However, during the conversation the Bihar police sensed that Dhananjay was the prime accused and asked their Govindpur counterparts to detain him till their arrival.

A team of the Bihar police reached Govindpur Sunday and Dhananjay has been produced in a court Monday. Govindpur IIC Pratap Rana said, “The accused has been produced in a court. Hereafter, we will hand him over to the Bihar police.”

Dhananjay was a resident of Laxmipur village near Morwa of Siwan district in Bihar. He had thrashed his paternal uncle Shambhu Chauhan (35) May 22, 2016 for the simple reason that the later had plucked some mangoes from the former’s courtyard.

Later Shambhu succumbed while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Morwa police had registered a case and rounded up four persons out of eight ones involved in the crime.

But the main accused Dhananjay was absconding.

With an intention to divert police attention from him to someone else, Dhananjay concocted a plan. As per the plan, he went to Govindpaur police station and while talking with Morwa police he mentioned a person and labelled him as the prime accused. However, Morwa police realised Dhananjay’s intentions of and arrested him.
