Bhubaneswar: After announcing ban on plastic in all urban local bodies from the coming Gandhi Jayanti, the state government has banned single-use plastic in the offices with immediate effect. General Administration department principal secretary Sanjeev Chopra has issued orders in this regard.
Chopra advised all secretaries not to use of PET water bottles, plastic cups and plates in the offices and during official meetings.
As water purifiers have been installed in almost all the offices, the government has suggested the officers and staffers to take water from the purifiers with stainless steel or glass bottles. Officials have been asked to use glass bottles and paper cups during official meetings.
Chopra further instructed not to use plastic folders or flex banners in day to day official work, meetings and functions. In place of flex banners, the officials can find out sustainable alternatives in this regard.
