Bhubaneswar: The state government is committed to set up permanent bench of the High Court in Western and Southern Odisha.
A Home department release issued to the press here Wednesday said the people were facing a lot of difficulties as several organisations in Western Odisha have resorted to agitation severely affecting various public services, and functioning of the government offices and courts.
“The government appealed to agitating lawyers and other members to withdraw their protest in larger interest of the people.
The state government has been constantly trying its best to set up permanent bench of the High Court in Western and Southern Odisha for the last three decades right from the period of former Chief Minister late Biju Patnaik.
The state government, the release further said, has also requested the Union government time and again and assured to provide infrastructure and human resource for setting up of the High Court Bench.
The High Court has also been requested in this regard. However, the Centre and Parliament have to take decision on the establishment of Permanent bench of the HC, it said.
