Govt deputes 5 IAS probationers to supervise Puri development works

Bhubaneswar:  State government Friday deputed five IAS probationers of 2018 batch in Puri to ensure smooth implementation of the Rs 500 crore Puri redevelopment works.

Chief Advisor to CMO R Balakrishnan and 5T secretary VK Pandian briefed the young officers about the task ahead and their new responsibilities.

It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced a special package of Rs 500 crore to develop Puri as a World Heritage City.

According to the plan, the funds will be spent on a range of modernisation activities including infrastructure development, construction of multi-lane roads, bridges, revival of Musa river, renovation of lakes and mutts in the region.

The district administration is currently focusing on a demolition drive in 75 metres radius of Jagannath temple here to free up encroached space and pulling down unsafe structures that pose a threat to the security of the temple.
