Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: The tourism department is gearing up to celebrate World Tourism Day in a big way September 27.
The department in association with Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Bhubaneswar will hold state-level competitions for schoolchildren. The department has invited all school students in the state to participate in the various competitions which will be held in this month.
Interested students can register their names online on the websites www.orissatourism.gov.in or www.iittmb.in to participate in the competitions which is based on the theme of ‘One Billion Tourists, One Billion Opportunities’. The duly-filled application forms will have to be submitted to the nodal officer of IITTM by September 12. Participants can check their roll number and other information from the said websites or from the IITTM’s notice board September 16.
A painting competition will be organised among two groups: Junior (Class I to Class V) and Senior (Class VI to Class X). The competition will be held at IITTM campus in Dumduma September 20, while a debate will be held on the same day.
The department will award `5,000 for the first prize winner while Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 will be awarded to second and third prize winners respectively for both competitions. Five consolation prizes of `1,000 will be given to participants of painting competition.
Moreover, giving an impetus to photographers from the state, the department will also hold a state-level photography competition. The first prize winner will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 whereas the second and third prize winners will be awarded with `15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. The consolation prize of `2000 will be given to five participants.
