Govt gives go ahead to 13 indoor stadiums in Ganjam

Chhatrapur: Elections to civic bodies in Ganjam district have been overdue. The government is bracing up for holding elections even as the district administration has been looking after development instead of people’s representatives.

Ahead of polls, the government has given a go ahead to Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadiums in 13 towns. The chief engineer (Construction) of the road and buildings (Southern Circle) has received a letter in this regard, a report said Friday.

The chief engineer (Building) of the state has directed the R&B chief engineer to float tenders for these indoor stadium projects by September 27.

It was learnt that the government has sanctioned Rs 6.20 crore for an indoor stadium at Digapahandi NAC; Rs 6.15 crore for the same in Chikiti; Rs 6.45 crore for Rambha NAC; Rs 6.22 crore for Ganjam NAC; Rs 6.24 crore for Purusottampur NAC; Rs 6.17 crore for Kodala NAC; Rs 6.52 crore for Khallikote NAC; Rs 6.19 crore for Gopalpur NAC; Rs 6.28 crore for Polsara NAC; Rs 6.23 crore for Kabisuryanagar NAC; Rs 6.34 crore for Bhanjanagar NAC; Rs 6.30 crore for Belaguntha NAC and Rs 6.28 crore for Aska NAC.

Notably, MLAs, sportspersons and people’s representatives had earlier talked to 5T Secretary VK Pandian about the indoor stadiums.
