Bhubaneswar: With the question paper of the High School Certificate (HSC) examination going viral on social media for the second consecutive year, the Opposition came down heavily on the state government and demanded the resignation of School and Mass Education (S&ME) Minister Badri Narayan Patra.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik said “The HSC examination is the foundation stone of their career for lakhs of students across the state. But from the day one, repeated incidents of question paper leaks have exposed the incapacity and inefficiency of S&ME department as well as Board of Secondary Education (BSE).”
They have seriously failed in the smooth conduct of the annual HSC examination and this has made the future of lakhs of meritorious students uncertain, he alleged. The Congress leader said the Education Minister should take moral responsibility for the leaks and resign immediately.
Echoing Patnaik, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan alleged that the future of lakhs of students is in the dark due to the incapability of the state government. “The government is playing with the careers of the students. Today, the primary education system has collapsed in Odisha owing to the incapability and callousness of the state government,” he said.
However, as usual, School and Mass Education Minister Patra came up with a statement saying the question papers are going viral on social media after the completion of the exams. “If the question papers go viral during the examination, there is no chance of any malpractice because the answers cannot reach the students in the examination centres.”
