Bhubaneswar: The state government Thursday ordered premature retirement of former Athagarh divisional forest officer (DFO) Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra. He belongs to the OFS cadre.
Mishra had earlier been booked by the state vigilance in connection with acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During a raid on his house, the investigating officers came to know that he had acquired assets in his and his family members’ names to the tune of Rs 5.5 crore and more than one crore in cash was also seized at that time.
These apart, he had also deposited Rs 3.46 crore in bank accounts and shares. The cash seizure is said to be the highest from any government official. Many in the forest department claimed him to be the most corrupt officer in the cadre. Following the search, Mishra was arrested and produced in a court. He was put under suspension February 25, 2016.
