Bhubaneswar: With an eye on elections, the government has decided to amend the recruitment rules of several cadres and regularised services of many employees who have been staging protests here on various occasions.
The state Cabinet Friday approved regularisation of jobs of six contractual cadres appointed under several schemes and societies in the administrative control of Health and Family Welfare department. The government has decided to regularise the jobs of staff nurses, pharmacists, multipurpose health workers (both male & female), laboratory technicians and radiographers, Chief Secretary AP Padhi told media persons here.
The decision will benefit 8,195 contractual employees and will have an additional burden of Rs 172 crore on the state exchequer every year, Padhi said.
The jobs of 3,998 staff nurses, 68 pharmacists, 2,730 multipurpose health workers (female), 588 multipurpose health workers (male), 799 laboratory technicians and 12 radiographers will be regularized, he added.
The Cabinet also approved the proposals to frame recruitment rules for appointment of Odisha Ministerial Services at district levels and staffers at Head of Departments (HoDs), he mentioned.
Now, there will be junior assistants, senior assistants and section officers at both district and Heads of Departments. The government has also decided to create 78 common cadre posts in the rank of establishment officer.
There will be establishment officers, administrative officers and senior administrative officers at HoDs while there will be establishment officer and senior establishment officer at district levels. These employs will get two to three promotions during their career.
The panel accorded its approval to amendment of rules for recruitment of Additional BDO, geologists, planning service cadre, livestock inspectors and homoeopathic doctors.
