Govt to pass 6 Bills in Budget session

Bhubaneswar: The Budget session of Odisha Assembly will start Thursday with Governor Ganeshi Lal’s address to the House at 11.00am.

It will be conducted in two phases and continue till April 9. The ruling BJD plans to pass six Bills during the session.

The first phase of the session will be held from February 18 to 27 while the second will be conducted March 12 to April 9. The state budget for the financial year 2021-22 will be presented, February 22.

In view of the improvement in the COVID-19 situation in the state, ‘Question Hour’ will be conducted during the session. It was cancelled during past two sessions of the House.

For smooth functioning of the House, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro held an all party meeting Wednesday. Patro said the Budget session will be conducted in two sittings from 10.30am to 1.30pm and from 4.00pm to 6.00 pm.

The opposition – BJP and the Congress have decided to attack the government over issues related Kotia dispute, law and order and farmers’ problems.
