Gross irregularities surface at RGH

Rourkela: With allegations of rampant corruption doing the rounds at Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH), the medical superintendent and acting director of the medical facility, Dr Ganesh Dash had ordered a probe.

A number of sub-committees were formed March 28 to examine ‘inflated’ bills submitted by various companies. The reports of the panels dated May 8, 2024, submitted to Dr Dash prove beyond doubt, there is indeed rampant corruption at the RGH.

Based on the report, the top doctor has stopped payments to three agencies for the months of March and April. The reports of the various sub-committees in possession of OrissaPOST prove beyond doubt that large-scale irregularities do exist in RGH.

One of the agencies, M/S Sarala Security Services had been engaged to provide security personnel for RGH. While examining the bills, it has come to notice, that the company was billing the hospital for the months of March and April for 84 persons. In reality however, the company was providing 68 security personnel to the hospital in place of the 104 agreed upon.

Another panel found that M/S Paritosh Services was supplying 62 persons for housekeeping but was raising the bill for 74 workers. Similar gross irregularities were noticed in the bills raised by the company engaged in laundry services.

Dr Dash meanwhile informed that other than stopping payments to the three organisations, he has sent the reports to higher-ups for action.
