Telkoi: Locals have alleged that Gram Rozgar Sevaks (GRS) have acquired assets worth crores of rupees at tribal-dominated Telkoi block in Keonjhar. They pointed out that GRSs are engaged to look after all kinds of work such as MGNREGS, PMAY, Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana, concrete road construction, pond digging and construction of embankments.
There are 22 panchayats in this block with one GRS in each panchayat. The GRSs get only Rs 7,000 each as monthly remuneration, but most of them have allegedly become rich through fraudulent means.
Job card holders are supposed to be engaged in all projects under MGNREGS, but machines are used in all construction work, they alleged. Forged muster rolls of job card holders are prepared, they added. BDO Dillip Kumar Bara said that GRSs are working on the ground level and if they are found to be indulging in illegal activities, they will be sent to jail.
