Gruesome triple murder in West Bengal’s Murshidabad takes political turn

The victims: Bandhu Gopal Pal, his wife Beauty and son

Murshidabad(West Bengal): The gruesome triple murder of a school teacher and his family in here took turned political Thursday with the BJP and its ideological mentor – the RSS claiming that the victim was their supporter.

The BJP and the RSS said though the primary school teacher Bandhu Gopal Pal was not their active member, but at times he had participated in the weekly ‘milan’ programmes organised by the Sangh.

The police have declined to comment on whether Bandhu Gopal Pal was a member of RSS or not.

The bodies of the 35-year-old teacher, his pregnant wife Beauty and eight-year-old son Angan were found lying in pools of blood in their house at the Jiaganj locality here Tuesday when the Durga Puja festivities were on.

The three were murdered by unidentified misreants, a senior police officer said here on Wednesday.

BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra in a tweet shared a video of the house in which blood stains could be seen on the floor.

“Warning : Gruesome video. This has shaken my conscience… a RSS worker Sh Bandhu Prakash Pal, his eight months pregnant wife & his kid were brutally slaughtered in West Bengal’s Murshidabad. Not a word by the liberals. Not a letter by 59 liberals to Mamata. Nauseating Selectivism!,” Patra tweeted.

The police have started an investigation into the brutal killing and three persons have been detained so far.

Expressing shock over the brutal killing of Bandhu Gopla Pal and his family West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said Thursday the incident reflects the law and order situation of the state.

“I am shocked, distressed and pained at the inhuman brutal killing of a school teacher, his wife and his son in Murshidabad district. This is a critical reflection of the state of affairs and the law and order of West Bengal,” jagdeep Dhankhar told this agency.

Dhankhar said he has sought a report on the killing from the West Bengal government on an urgent basis. “I call upon the law enforcement agencies to pursue the culprits and bring them to book,” he said.
