GTIFF ends on high note

BHUBANESWAR: Ten movies on varied themes and issues were showcased on the concluding day of Golden Triangle International Film Festival at Gita Govinda Bhawan here Tuesday. Multiple regional short films like ‘Judhodata Chilo Swadhiniotar’, ‘Confession’, ‘Dancer’ and ‘Rasagolla’ among others were also screened at the event.

Odia movie ‘Rasagolla’ is a story based on love for the sweet dish among people in general and Odia’s in particular. Director Swaraj Mishra said, “The movie is not based on the conflict between two states of Odisha and West Bengal to claim propriety over the delicacy. We have just tried to depict the importance of the delicacy in Odia culture and tradition. We have tried to portray how the delicacy is savoured in all types of occasion.”

 

Bengali movie ‘Confession’ was based on the story of a married couple who are hiding a dark secret form each other and how an incident forced the wife to speak her side of secret. However, the husband now faces a dilemma on whether to confess his secret or not.

Hindi movie ‘Dancer’ was based on the story of a bar dancer who had to face a lot of hatred and harassment in ,her life. However, she faced all of them bravely and fought her way to win a prestigious dance competition. Talking to Orissa Post, the lead actor of the movie Kuheli Roy Choudhury said, “I had to go through the exact feelings experienced by the dancer to do justice to the role. Therefore, I visited the bar and observed dancers.”

Director Riwk Jaiswal said, “The movie tried to depict the life of a dancer who has dreams like everybody else. She wants to provide for her family for which she dances in the bar. However, the society continuously harasses her. She faced all the hardships in life bravely.”

Marathi movie ‘Ek Rupainchi Jatra’ was also screened at the event. The film was directed by ‘Rahul Koshor Mouje’. It is based on the story of a father who tries to fulfill his daughter’s wishes at all times.
