Joda: Notwithstanding that Gurubeda picnic spot under Joda block in Keonjhar district has not been declared a tourist spot by the government, picnickers throng this spot all the year-round.
The footfall has increased manifold this picnic season.
Tucked away in verdant green jungle, the spot is on the bank of the Baitrani river in Jajang panchayat of Joda block. Meandering river, its chuckling and the green surrounding of the spot make it picture perfect. People come here to enjoy the nature at its pristine condition.
Every year between November and January, picnickers from nearby areas such as Joda, Barbil and from the bordering areas of Jharkhand come here to spend some time.
How to reach: This place can be reached by train or by road. The nearest railway station is Bansapani. After getting down there, one can hire an auto-rickshaw. Gurubeda square comes after travelling three kilometres on State Highway-2 (Joda-Bamebari road). The travellers need to take a left turn from there and after two kilometres, the spot can be reached.
The nearest bus stand is Joda town bus stand. From there the Gurubeda square is four kilometres and the picnic spot another two towards the left.
