Gurupriya bridge star attraction for New Year revelers

Malkangiri: While tourists in thousands continued to throng Satiguda Dam, Jadu Hill, Ammakunda and Balimela Dam in this district, the star attraction this year is the newly inaugurated Gurupriya bridge.

The tourists coming from two neighbouring states — Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh — and the residents of Malkangiri district were seen taking selfies on the bridge and enjoying its green surroundings on the New Year’s Day.

According to reports, more than 15,000 tourists from Sukma, Dantewada and Jagdalpur of Chhattisgarh visited various sites in Malkangiri district. These tourists along with their families celebrated the first day of the year at various scenic spots and some of them enjoyed boating at Sitaguda and Chitrokonda.

Similarly, around 10,000 tourists visited the famous Shaiva seat near Jadu Hill and savoured the beauty of nature there. There were plenty of picnickers too at various spots in the district. Overall, local residents as well as outsiders had a day well spent in the lap of nature and in the divine atmosphere of temples by visiting  Ammakund, Sitakund, Khadikajadi and the confluence of Poteru, Sileru and Saberi rivers at Motu.

On the other hand, the district administration and the forest department have made suitable arrangements for the visitors to enjoy the day.
