Malkangiri: The inauguration of Gurupriya Setu, the much awaited bridge over Janbai river, to establish a link between the cut-off regions of Chitrakonda block and the district headquarters, has been further delayed by a few more days, a report said.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was to inaugurate the project July 18. However, it would be held some day after July 20 after the Met department predicted heavy rain till July 18. The programme would be fixed after improvement in weather condition, said district information and public relation officer in-charge Manas Kumar Mishra.
On the other hand, the ultras who have been opposing the project, aim to trigger violence ahead of the programme, intelligence sources said. Based on inputs, the police have tightened the security arrangements.
While a region in five km radius of the bridge is being sanitised, BSF jawans have been patrolling the site round the clock. Several CCTV cameras have been installed for foolproof vigilance of the bridge set up inside the reservoir.
