Hang-out with prints

Print design

There are several myths associated with prints and patterns. People often believe that prints can be risky so they need to understand that when it comes to fashion, there’s no specific rule.
“There are ways in which a conscious customer needs to select the pair that’s been sitting in your closet ‘alone’ for ages,” suggests Amruta, a city-based fashion designer.

Right pairing
Choose a solid coloured top and pair it with a printed skirt or a pant or vice-versa. The print can be anything: For starters go with floral (for you can’t go wrong with them). Accordingly, you can go for stripes, grids, checks or polka dots. With this, the monotony is broken and a proper rhythm is achieved.

Pretty all over
If you’re a girl next door who loves dresses, then you can totally opt for all over prints, anything of your choice. Maxi dresses are totally comfortable and for every short girl who thinks maxi dresses are not their thing, then just delete that thought! You can always go for “vertical stripes” which will give an elongation and make you look taller. Tropical prints are also pretty especially for a brunch with your friends or just for any casual hangout.

Print on print
This is the one we fear the most. But if it’s fashion, then there’s a way to pair it. I know many might be thinking that print on print looks good only on ramp but no; we can work it out in our daily lives too. Wear a check on check that looks very formal, go for abstract prints pairing, you can always mix prints of the same brands because somewhere they have a commonality which will give you a perfect look. Brands these days are coming up with coordinates so that you as a buyer can enjoy this “print on print” trend without hesitation.

Layering
Last, but the best! Layering has a wide variety of styling options; yes girls, we can do it with prints and patterns too.

To mention a few

Layer your favourite printed shrug with a solid coloured top with a pair of shorts. Go for long shrugs, wear them with printed tank tops; you can do the other way out too.  Pair this look with distressed denims as it gives a poise to the entire style. For all the corporate girls who think layering is not for office, then just cut the slack because you can pair your tailored blazers with striped/checked shirts with a pencil skirt or you can wear a tailored dress with a printed overcoat.  PNN
