Mumbai: Actress Bhumika Chawla made her debut with Salman Khan in the 2003 film ‘Tere Naam’. It was a super duper hit at the box office. Despite the hit Bhumika Chawla failed to establish herself in the Hindi film industry.
Bhumika Chawla started her film career in Telugu films. Her first film was Yuvakudu (2000) alongside actor Sumanth.
The actress was born August 21, 1978 in New Delhi. Born in Army family, she did her schooling in New Delhi, after which she moved to Mumbai in 1997 to pursue a career in acting. She started with ad films and music videos. She was also a part of the Zee TV series ‘Hip Hip Hurray’.
Chawla also acted in music albums of Adnan Sami and Udit Narayan. For her second Telugu film ‘Khushi’ she won ‘the Best Actress Filmfare Award’ for regional language.
In 2004 Chawla again did ‘Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa’ with Salman Khan with Preity Zinta also playing an important role. However, the film failed at the box office.
In 2007, Chawla got married to her yoga teacher Bharat Thakur. Prior to that, the two were in a relationship for four years. They were first known as friends which later turned into love and the two got married in a gurdwara at Nasik.
After seven years of marriage, Chawla gave birth to a son in 2014. She made a comeback in 2016 with the film ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’. In the film, she was the sister of Sushant Singh who played the lead role.
Currently, Chawla is busy in her personal life and is away from limelight.
