Mumbai: Divya Dutta, who has acted in more than a hundred films, is considered one of the finest actresses of the Hindi film industry.
Divya is celebrating her 42nd birthday today. Divya was born in a Punjabi Hindu family in Ludhiana city of Punjab and started her career with ‘Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna’ in 1994.
Her father died when Divya was seven years old. After this, Divya’s mother Dr. Nalini Dutta, a government officer and doctor, raised her single-handedly.
Divya was very young during the 1984 Sikh riots in Punjab. In an interview, she said that at that time she was hiding in her mother’s scarf.
Divya used to do modeling for regional TV commercials in Punjab before coming to Mumbai. But did you know that in the film ‘Kasoor’ (2001) Lisa Ray was unable to speak Hindi and Divya had dubbed Hindi for her?
Divya’s name was briefly associated with Lt. Sandeep Shergill of the Indian Army. However the two later separated. Divya got a proposal for marriage from America at the age of 19. The boy was a doctor but Divya chose to focus on her career instead. The actress is still not married.
Divya has received the National Award for Best Supporting Actress. He received this honor for the film ‘Irada’ in 2018.
