Happy birthday Jaya Bachchan! This is why she doesn’t pose in front of cameras

Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan’s wife Jaya Bachchan turns a year older today.

Jaya, who started her career in Bengali films, has been associated with the Hindi movie industry for over 40 years. People came to know about a lot about Jaya when daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda and son Abhishek revealed some interesting facts about her in the ‘Koffee with Karan’ chat show.

During the show, the siblings revealed that Jaya suffers from claustrophobia. So on many occasions even though she is with her family she dislikes posing in front of the camera. She doesn’t like the flashbulbs popping up.

When Karan asked Shweta and Abhishek about Jaya’s behavior, their answer was shocking.  Both said that Jaya is claustrophobic. Claustrophobia incidentally is a disease where a person feels suffocated if he/she is surrounded by a crowd.

Shweta added that Jaya avoids crowds or being pushed or touched by unknown strangers. Apart from this, the camera flashbulbs affect her eyes.

Notably, Jaya stepped into the film industry at the age of 15. With her long hair, simple eyes and demure style aided by her acting skills, Jaya had a huge fan following during her heydays. During her career, she won nine Filmfare Awards including three for Best Actress and three for Best Supporting Actress. She was awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. In 1992, she was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India.
