Mumbai: Talented and versatile actor Manoj Bajpayee, who turns a year older today, has a different fan base in the Hindi film industry.
Manoj has been successfully entertaining audience with his acting skills over the years. However, when we look back at his past, he had to go through a lot of troubles to make a mark for himself.
In an interview, Manoj himself had said that he was turned away by many big directors and producers. He was told that he would never make an actor. However, Manoj has proven everyone wrong.
Manoj was only 17, when he relocated to Delhi to start a career in movies. During his school days, Manoj used to be a very shy boy.
According to reports, he was rejected more than three times from NSD (National School of Drama). To everyone’s surprise, the same boy who was rejected later joined NSD as a teacher.
Manoj got recognition from Ram Gopal Varma’s Film ‘Satya’ in 1998. He received a National Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film.
Then, he went to work on many other critically acclaimed movies. For his work on Amrita Pritam’s famous novel ‘Pinjar’, he received a national award.
After Prakash Jha’s political thriller film ‘Raajneeti’ Manoj’s life got a U-turn and gradually he started getting acceptability from the film industry.
Slowly, slowly his films were getting good reviews at the box office. Recently, he received Padma Shri award. April 23 this year, he turns 50 and will complete his 25 years in this industry.
