Saira started her career at the age of 17. She made her acting debut opposite Shammi Kapoor in the 1961 film ‘Junglee’ and it was a blockbuster hit. The film earned the actress her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
1968’s film ‘Padosan’ made her popular among the audience and she became extremely successful in the Hindi film industry in the 60s and 70s. More than films, Saira continued to make headlines for her relationship with Dilip Kumar.
Saira wanted to become an actress like her mother since she was a child. Saira loved Dilip Kumar since she was 12. Dilip was 44 years old and Saira was 22 when he came to know about this. Dilip, who had two failed love stories, was not showing any interest in Saira.
Due to the difference in age, Dilip was hesitating for this relationship, but he had come to know that Saira was in love with him. In 1966, Dilip and Saira declared their love and got married.
