Mumbai: If you have seen the movie Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002) then you will surely remember the face of the actress in the lead. Tulip Joshi, who ventured into Hindi film industry with this film, was born 11 September 1979 in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Her father is a Gujarati while her mother is Armenian. She was brought up in Mumbai where she attended the Jamnabai Narsee School and later Mithibai College from where she graduated majoring food science and chemistry.
Tulip got her debut film by the stroke of luck. Actually Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’s producer Aditya Chopra went to attend a friend’s wedding where he saw Tulip. Then and there Aditya invited Tulip to the audition for Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai.
However, Tulip did not know Hindi properly at that time. After going through rigorous classes, Tulip acted in film and became a super hit instantly.
It opened floodgates for Tulip as she got several offers. One of them was Matrubhoomi. The film was based on female foeticide, in which Tulip played the role of Kalki, who married five brothers and had to spend time with different brothers. The film created a controversy as the subject of the film was very powerful. However, it didn’t do wonders in the box office.
Meanwhile, Tulip fell in love with Captain Vinod Nair, who is a writer of a novel Pride of Lions. Vinod is a successful businessman as well. Both were in a live-in-relationship for about four years before getting married. Since then, Tulip has been managing her multi-crore company with husband Vinod. She works as the director of the company.
