Kendrapara: A hawker was Sunday arrested for allegedly sodomising a four-year-old boy in Marshaghai police station area, said IIC Kalandi Behera.
The accused was identified as Shoukin, 22, of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
According to Behera, Shoukin and his relative were going to Kodakona village to sell their products. They were going on a scooter when they came across a four-year-old boy on the road. Shoukin forcibly took the minor boy to a half constructed house where he allegedly sodomised him.
A villager, who witnessed the act, informed others. The villagers detained the two hawkers and gave them a good thrashing before handing them over to Marshaghai police.
The police booked Shoukin under Section 377 of IPC and 6 of POCSO Act and produced him in the SDJM court. The court remanded him to jail custody after rejecting his bail plea, Behera said.
