New Delhi: Delhi High Court Monday asked the CBI to file its reply in alleged doping case against wrestler Narsingh Yadav.

It was alleged that Narsingh Yadav was caught in a doping controversy just before Rio Olympics 2016 where he was set to represent India in men’s freestyle 74kg category.

Delhi High Court after hearing the plea on behalf of Narsingh seeking time bound completion of investigation in the case sought reply from CBI. Narsingh has not competed ever since the case came out and there has not been much advancement into the case.

In this matter dream of Narsingh for competing at the Rio Olympics came to an end with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upholding the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) appeal against the clean chit given to him in the doping violation case.

The CAS’s ad hoc division had also slapped a four-year ban on the Mumbai wrestler.

Narsingh first returned positive for a banned steroid following a dope test on June 25 by NADA, before being cleared on August 1. He ran into trouble over alleged doping offences. However, the WADA filed an urgent application before the CAS ad hoc division to challenge the decision of NADA India to exonerate Narsingh which was upheld.

Narsingh then filed a plea and requested for CBI probe into his alleged doping scandal.
