Cuttack: After showing displeasure with the affidavit submitted by Health & Family Welfare Department, Orissa High Court has asked Odisha government to conduct an inquiry and submit a fresh affidavit on qualification of fake doctors by February 20.

Previously, Health and Family Welfare Department had been ordered by the High Court December 21, 2022, to launch an investigation and submit report in this regard.

Subsequently, Odisha Health & Family Welfare Department prepared an affidavit in which it was stated that the CDMOs have been directed to conduct the verification process without mentioning a timeframe to complete it.

The High Court gave this instruction while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) alleging that many fake doctors were treating patients in border regions of Odisha.

According to the petition, fake doctors lack the necessary credentials to treat patients. The PIL made clear that patients’ conditions are getting worse due to erroneous treatment given by fake doctors.
