Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Thursday granted anticipatory bail to senior Daitapati Binayak Das Mohapatra and his brother Gunadhar Das Mohapatra who is the president of Puri Urban Cooperative Bank, in connection with vandalism during a dawn-to-dusk shutdown in Puri October 3. Largescale violence and vandalism were reported from across Puri during the bandh convened by self-styled outfit Sri Jagannath Sena to protest introduction of queue system for devotees at the Srimandir. The Police had registered as many as 34 cases against Binayak and his sibling Gunadhar for their alleged participation in the agitation. The duo had approached the HC seeking anticipatory bail to evade arrest.
