Headless body found along railway tracks, suicide suspected

Chandikhol: Headless body of a man was found lying along the railway tracks of Golantara railway station near Berhampur town in Ganjam district Tuesday morning. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Harihara Sahu – son of Suryamani Sahu of Kalashri village under Balichandrapur police limits in Jajpur district. He was identified from the debit card and Aadhar card in his possession. A Cuttack-Berhampur railway ticket was also found in his pocket.

According to family members, Harihara had gone missing after leaving home at 5:00 pm Monday and had not returned home since. A missing complaint had been lodged by the family members at Balichandrapur police station after they failed to trace him.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered the headless body of Harihara and informed his family. Later they identified the body.

The news of his death has sent a shockwave across his village. Cops, meanwhile, are investigating the case further.
